Once Upon A Mattress

Once Upon A Mattress puts a rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance and provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. If you thought you knew the story of “The Princess and the Pea,” you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that it may not have been the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Knights and Ladies in Waiting, an overbearing Queen and a silent King makes this a fun musical!

This group will perform a fully realized production, directed by Chase Leyner, at the end of the three-week session for family and friends. Students will learn blocking, direction, acting technique and choreography. Each day they will have classes in Voice and Music Theory, Acting, Dance and Art with trained professionals and working artists.

Footloose

Footloose is based on the iconic movie and bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period but not for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story is set to rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar- and Tony-nominated top-40 score.

This group will perform a fully realized production, directed by Don Brewer, at the end of the three-week session in the evening for family and friends. Each day they will have classes in Voice and Music Theory, Acting, and Dance with trained professionals and working artists. High school and college theater audition information and coaching is also made available.

Students bring their own snack, lunch and dance shoes. They have the option of leaving for lunch.
